Instagram really opened up my eyes. I started it thinking “what is this all about?” But pretty much instantly enjoyed taking photos and trying new shots. I’ve become a bit of a instagram addict. Do you love it? Are you on it? Or do you avoid it (like my hubby)? Now I’m always on the lookout for a cool shot. I thought I’d share some with you. If you’re on Instagram take a look at my scenery and knit projects. My username is bylala2. Please feel free to share your instagram page with me, I love to follow others and see the beautiful sites from all over the world!
I was listening to my morning Podcast Entrepreneur on Fire with John Dumas
and he was interviewing Adam Braun who created Pencils of Promise.
WHAT an incredible story of how he came to create this awesome foundation that builds school for kids in under privileged parts of the world!
He had a life changing moment, a face death moment and thought what do I want my legacy to be. He started travelling all over the world and everywhere he went he would ask a child what they wanted most. In India this boy said “a pencil”.
Something so simple can mean so much. SO he started travelling and handing out pens and pencils to these kids. That was where the beginning of his foundation started. His first school he dedicated to his Grandma and he hasn’t stopped since. He just wrote a book The Promise of a Pencil – How an ordinary person can make extraordinary change. I think I might just check that out.
Very inspiring. And made me think about what I want to leave behind, and how I’d like to touch people’s lives.
So I had someone say the other day “You have 2 boys and you make purses?”
I actually started making purses long before my boys came along. And I realized I make these purses for my Inner 8 year old.
I loved taking toys with me, things to keep myself busy when I was a kid. The first purse I made I thought WOW I would’ve loved this when I was a kid, I would’ve packed in a couple of toys in my Mom like purse.
So every time I make a purse I think what would I love! I make my purses fun, bright, whimsical, sometimes more serious, less girly. And when I make one, I’m instantly 8 again, thinking I would’ve loved this purse to go with this outfit, or shoes, or this one would’ve fit my barbies, and book and wallet.
I look at my Yarn shelf and I get really excited mixing the colors in my mind. I get an image of what the purse will look like when it’s done. Sometime’s it turns out better, like my sunburst purse up top. So thrilled that one turned out beautiful.
I constantly get to play with my imagination and make things that I love. And the best is when I give or sell a purse and I hear, My daughter never puts it down, everything goes into it, she loves it. That just fills me with such happiness and inspires me to make more.
“It takes a whole village to raise a child” And part of my village is my BF Rose Reiter We check in with each other almost every other day. From that point on I have been helping her market her music and try to get it out there… so if you have a second take a listen! rosereiter.com She wears many other hats and you can find more out about her on her Blog at Rose Reiter Blog.

Here is my latest. Its a photography prop for really anything, but seems the Anne Geddes Photos of babies is HUGELY popular and having warm soft interesting things for them to lay on is a whole genre! So thought I would make a big chunky knit, here it is.
This story that I linked to Inspires me. It inspires me to be like these ladies who tried to figure out how to get more money to give back in more ways.
This is why I started this Blog, To talk about my knitting, life, and inspiration. Doing good feels good. So I intend to do it alot more.
