I did it!! I finished my 12 sweaters and hats. I was asked by Born Yesterday a baby boutique in Philadelphia to make them sweaters! Here the are! Whew!
So thrilled to be done and able to work on some fall inventory for my store.
All knitters know what I’m talking about.
I got asked to make a baby neutral blanket and sweater and hat for a baby gift. So I went with greens and wanted a green to go with the blanket.
So I picked out a totally different yarn…
It was too tight just not the right kind of yarn. So this yarn may get made into a cowl or something else. But decided to stick with my patons melody and white goes with this blanket. So…
This is the sweater she’s getting with the blanket. But always good to try something new!
So that title isn’t totally true. The weekend after I had time to knit. But when your in pain you don’t really want to do anything. So I did get some knitting time. But then my hubby went on a 3 day business trip leaving me to hobble after the children. No knitting possible while hobbling.
So how did this happen you wonder. Or at least the X-Ray tech did. Well, my almost 2 yr old was next to me standing on one of the tall kitchen stools and decided to start dancing around. I had my arm around him just incase so when the stool tipped my grip tightened and not paying attention to the stool didn’t notice it falling for my feet. Yup, collective cringe and you know what happened next. My almost 2er heard a lot of words he had never heard before. And then we both cried together.
I have been bustin my fingers trying to get through this custom order. Seems for some reason this past month babies were coming early all over the place.
And on top of that my sons Teacher’s twins came early … This is what I made for them…
And now off to knit something for my friend down the road who’s baby came … Yup! Early! Sometimes I wish I hand a couple sets of hands.
I love when friendships spring from situations.
I started conversing with Angela through an Etsy Team, she was looking for help with her shop Inspired by Gianluca and not getting any response, so she got frustrated. I saw her comments and immediately took a look at her shop and gave her some feedback.
Like her I too have been trying to figure out my Etsy Shop, are my items good, should I make something else. So I just gave her some thoughts about her shop. Since Then We have become customers to each other and friends. We are helping market each other and help each other create a marketplace for our stores. Here is something I had Angela make for my Son’s room. She’s now posting it as a make to order for anyone’s baby’s room. I’m getting another made for my nephew.
Cute right? She’s got other great artwork in her store and she can make just about anything you want. That’s the great thing with Etsy. You can start a conversation with your customer and have things specifically crafted just for them, their baby or house. And that in turn helps shop owners to know what people are interested in, and what might sell better.
Here is what I made for Angela,
Now I have to admit when she asked me to make the hat, I was a bit terrified as I had never made anything like it, but I”m glad she pushed me a little out of my comfort zone and I got to make something new. And it gave me ideas for future items to sell. So thanks Angela for being Such an awesome customer and new friend!
So I had someone say the other day “You have 2 boys and you make purses?”
I actually started making purses long before my boys came along. And I realized I make these purses for my Inner 8 year old.
I loved taking toys with me, things to keep myself busy when I was a kid. The first purse I made I thought WOW I would’ve loved this when I was a kid, I would’ve packed in a couple of toys in my Mom like purse.
So every time I make a purse I think what would I love! I make my purses fun, bright, whimsical, sometimes more serious, less girly. And when I make one, I’m instantly 8 again, thinking I would’ve loved this purse to go with this outfit, or shoes, or this one would’ve fit my barbies, and book and wallet.
I look at my Yarn shelf and I get really excited mixing the colors in my mind. I get an image of what the purse will look like when it’s done. Sometime’s it turns out better, like my sunburst purse up top. So thrilled that one turned out beautiful.
I constantly get to play with my imagination and make things that I love. And the best is when I give or sell a purse and I hear, My daughter never puts it down, everything goes into it, she loves it. That just fills me with such happiness and inspires me to make more.
So Here is my post promoting her fabulous items and here are a couple of my fav’s.
But you should check her page and see what you like!
This is the thing I love about Etsy. There is a real community of people on there helping each other out, promoting each other. It’s a great thing to be apart of.
“It takes a whole village to raise a child” And part of my village is my BF Rose Reiter We check in with each other almost every other day. And we try to encourage, and inspire and give each other ideas. Recently Rose has me hooked on podcasts, I had NO idea! But so many great podcasts and ideas marketing. Just a couple I am LOVING! Amy Porterfield, The School of Greatness, Fire Nation. Really loving those!
So I have been on the Rose Reiter Train since we became roommates in 1997! She said “Hey do you want to hear a couple of my songs?” And I sat on her bedroom floor listening to her play guitar and sing I was BLOWN AWAY! all I could think was “Why is she not on the radio!” I would buy her album! From that point on I have been helping her market her music and try to get it out there… so if you have a second take a listen! rosereiter.com She wears many other hats and you can find more out about her on her Blog at Rose Reiter Blog.
It is so important to have positive people in your life to cheer you on. Thanks for being one of my cheerleaders Rose, I love cheering you on!
Here is my latest. Its a photography prop for really anything, but seems the Anne Geddes Photos of babies is HUGELY popular and having warm soft interesting things for them to lay on is a whole genre! So thought I would make a big chunky knit, here it is.
